MEET THE MISSIONARIES

CHURCH PLANTING // NAMB SEND
JOSH CARTER
Josh and Amy Carter are originally from East Tennessee. Josh currently serves on The North American Mission Board as the Director of church planting for SEND Network Nevada. They have 4 children, Grayson (12), Annabelle(10), Mallorie (8), and Avery (4).
Josh is a graduate of Southern Seminary and served as a staff pastor for over 10 years in upper East-Tennessee. Josh and Amy moved west and were a part of Hope Church in Las Vegas, NV where Josh served as a church planting resident under Pastor Vance Pitman in 2013. While in Las Vegas, God birthed a passion and vision to plant churches in the West. After serving at Hope and many years prior to that of serving in multiple pastoral roles, Josh and Amy had the great privilege of moving to Portland, Oregon to plant Remedy City Church. God did some amazing things and Remedy continues to reach people and make disciples in the Northwest today. In 2021, Josh and Amy received the God-given call and opportunity to move back to Las Vegas, what he calls “the doorway to the west,” to mobilize churches to collaborate in planting churches throughout the region. What God has done and is doing in Las Vegas and throughout the whole state of Nevada is incredible.

IMPACT CONSULTANT AND COACH
Lance Sumner
Lance has been a pastor and in ministry for over fifteen years and joined Crossroads Church in fall 2022.

Lance has served churches in a multitude of capacities including roles as a deacon, youth pastor, associate pastor, and for nine+ years, a senior pastor. With this extensive experience, Lance desires to see the church be and become the church by making disciples through church revitalization.

Lance firmly believes in walking with and beside other pastors to help guide their churches in the mission of making disciples. His passion is being a disciple of Christ who disciples others. Lance realizes one of the loneliest positions is being a pastor. He wants to come alongside other pastors who have a desire to make disciples and build them up. Lance’s life verses are Romans 12:1-2, and his deepest desire is to see the church transformed for God by equipping the church to accomplish and fulfill its mission.

Lance is a graduate of Luther Rice Seminary with a MA in Leadership and MDiv. Lance and his wife, Karen, have two young children, Jonathan (9) and Harper Grace (1). He and his family live in Senoia, GA. Previously before going into ministry, Lance served honorably in the United States Army as a Biological Research Specialist.

Dudley and Lana King are from the DFW area in Dallas. They have two children and six grandchildren. The Kings answered God's call and were serving in Papua New Guinea (PNG) as Regional Center Managers. In this role they minister to the Bible translators and missionaries who come to stay at the center, some who are exhausted and hurting. The center includes a guesthouse of 12 rooms and two houses available for rent.
Bible translation workshops are also held at the center and they made preparations for these workshops, and managed a staff of nine who are hard-working Papua New Guineans.
Other duties include building maintenance, administrative tasks, and logistics for their organization.
This role of Center Managers requires a servant's heart and a willingness to love without limits. Many support roles are necessary to make the translation of God's Word in the many heart languages of PNG possible.

NAMB MISSIONARY
Diane SMith
“At the age of 50, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.
“I grew up going to a church and knowing the name of Jesus, yet never learned about a relationship with Him until moving to Denver, NC and attending Denver Baptist Church.
“I wanted everyone to know my Jesus and how they too could have an everlasting life with Him. I then started serving local areas in town, meeting people where they are at, and going on mission trips near and far. One of those trips was to Calhoun County in Alabama.
“I felt God calling me to missions but I allowed my flesh to take over. Yet through His calling on my life and my obedience to Him, it became His call, not mine. I put my “yes” on the table for His will to be done.
“On June 1st, 2014, I took my first steps into Zinn Park in Anniston, AL and life was never the same. I serve as He leads. For example, He has led me to prayer walk and build relationships in local schools and led me to start a nonprofit called “His Hands and Feet Ministries of Calhoun County”. It also includes serving the homeless and underprivileged in my community as I build relationships and meet current needs.
“I would not change one thing in my life as I serve people loving like Jesus as He first loved me.”

AMAZON HOPE
Matt and Julie Collins
Amazon Hope is a non-profit mission organization which supports Brazilian churches and other organized ministries in spreading the Gospel message of Jesus Christ throughout the Amazon River Basin. Four million people live along the river and tributaries, where as many as 33,000 unreached villages have never heard the Gospel. We take Christians from all walks of life to serve in short-term missions through the Amazon. This ministry establishes relationships with residents, opening the door to share the love of Jesus with them.
At Amazon Hope, we aim to be the hands and feet of Jesus. In Jesus's parable in Matthew 25, He says, "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me" (Matthew 25:35-36). We take Jesus's words to heart and know that bringing the Hope of Jesus means that we love people the way that He loves people — caring for the whole person and meeting them where they are. Amazon Hope provides dental care and eye care, as well as clothing, personal hygiene items, fishing gear, and food. All services and items are distributed with dignity and made available to every family of every village we visit. Whether it's by praying, going, giving, or sending, will you join us on this beautiful journey? May it be on the Amazon as it is in Heaven.
